Frances Schembri, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend passed away on Saturday, April 5th, after losing her courageous battle with cancer.
Born to the late Frank and Catherine Albertelli, Frances lived a life defined by warmth, resilience, and unconditional love. She selflessly put her family’s needs before her own, devoting herself to raising her children with love and care, and later offering her unwavering devotion to her parents and her in-laws, Fred and Philomena Schembri, throughout every stage of their lives. Her strength, grace, and quiet generosity were a constant source of comfort to those around her.
Frances is survived by her loving husband, Lorenzo Schembri; her children Fred (Justine), Frank (Rachel), Christina (Jonathan), and Lorenzo (Mare); her treasured grandchildren, Pete, Lexi, David, Isabella, Katie, Lorenzo, Mason, and Austen; and her sisters, Carol Pugliese and Kathryn Gubista (James).
Frances’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Fondly referred to as “The Commander”, she will be remembered not only for the love she gave so freely but also for the compassion and steadiness with which she lived each day.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Lymphoma Research Foundation, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in memory of Frances Schembri.
