Donald F. Ferrara Obituary

FERRARA – Donald Frank, 87, passed away on July 3, 2025. Beloved father of Kathleen (Matt), Lynn (Mike d 2021), and Jane (Mike). Cherished grandfather (“Boppy”) to Ryan, Julia, Caroline, Matthew, Lizzy, Nicole, and Katie. Older brother to Nick Ferrara (Monica) and beloved uncle to Debbie, Christine, Bobby, Nicholas, Thomas, Michael, and Tracey. Brother-in-law to Frank Willis (Claire) and Mary Jane Bowman (Bob).

Don was married to his college sweetheart Betty Willis Ferrara for 29 years and was heartbroken at her passing in 1991.

Don was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School and was the first in his extended family to attend college, at Bucknell University. Raised by his loving parents Frank and Catherine Ferrara, he grew up in Laurelton, Queens. After marrying Betty they eventually settled in Rockville Centre, NY to raise their family.

Don served in the US Army first as an ROTC student at Bucknell and then as a First Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in 1967.

Don’s career focused on Real Estate Investments for a number of business organizations until his retirement at the age of 57. Extensive travel for work took him across our country and to the Middle East many times. His travels extended worldwide after retirement.

Don’s life was family focused and full of trips to Lake George and Cape Cod, and so many fond memories were made at Malibu Beach and in East Hampton, NY. Boating and fishing were his passions, and he was an ocean lifeguard for many of his younger years. He truly was a man of the sea!

He will be remembered by so many with love, fondness and gratitude.

Family and friends may visit at Glynn Funeral Home, RVC on Sunday, August 3rd from 3-7 PM. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Agnes Cathedral on Monday August 4th at 9:45 AM. Internment to follow at Holy Rood.
