Christine Hooban Licona Obituary
Christine Carol Hooban-Licona Born on Christmas Eve in 1960, Chris was a gift- and she knew it. She spent her early years in Florida with her siblings, Regina Hardee-Ferrell, Ted Sohn, and Kenny Sohn. She left home early and took care of herself from a young age. In her twenties she moved to New York City and found a home, moving to Rockville Centre and began working for The Golden Reef Diner in 1997, where she met her husband, Rigoberto Licona. In her life with Rigo, her family grew to include Rigo’s family, (Son) Danilo Licona, (Mother) Fidelia Rodriguez, (Siblings) Reina Licona, Suyapa Licona, Daniel Licona, Dalia Licona, (nieces and nephew) Maria Licona, Kensy Licona, Anyely Mena, and Saul Licona- and the love they had for each other shown through. She loved to travel to Grandy, North Carolina and sit on her porch, overlooking the sound. If you had asked her anytime in the last 3 years what the highlight of her life was, she would answer unequivocally with Michael Oliver. After years apart Chris found her son, Michael, and they spoke every day until her illness took her. Her aunt, Patty Stuckman, stepped up during her illness and took special care to advocate for her within the healthcare system. Christine cared a lot and fought hard. She will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her Mother, Joanne Tomasko Hill and brother, Kenneth Raymond Sohn(Bonita). She is survived by her son Michael Oliver (Carol), sister, Regina Ferrell (Scott), brother, Ted Sohn(Janice), nieces and nephews, Sicely Sohn, Kenita Sohn, Toby Sohn, John Kerley, Vicky Kerley, John David Kerley and William Kerley. 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
