Obituary of Lucille Alongi
Lucille (Lucy) Veronica Alongi, 90, beloved wife of the late Salvatore William Alongi of Oceanside, NY, passed away on April 21, 2020 in Danbury, CT.
Lucy was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Joseph and Florence Maritato on November 7, 1929. She met the love of her life, Sal (Babe), at the age of 13 and shared 63 beautiful years of marriage.
Lucy enjoyed cooking, dancing, shopping, crocheting, decorating, watching Hallmark movies, taking her dog for walks, and spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, Lucy enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s dance recitals, graduation ceremonies, school concerts, plays, cub scouting and sporting events.
Lucy is survived by her five children, James and (Josephine) Alongi of Holbrook, NY, Joseph and (Esther) Alongi of Oceanside, NY, Camille and (Danny) Rella of Danbury, CT, Florie Alongi of Danbury, CT, and Michael Alongi of Ozone Park, NY. Lucy is also survived by her eight grandchildren Michelle and (Craig), Therese and (Chris), Danielle, Alissa and (Eddie), Dana, Greg and (Lauren), Sal, and James, and great grandchildren, Aidan, Ava, Christopher, Tessa, Lucas, Anthony, and Leah.
A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park Arboretum, Farmingdale, NY.
We ask that you take a moment to hug your loved ones and live life to the fullest with the same spunk and fire as Lucy did. Life is short and time waits for no one. “I hope you dance…”.
