Obituary of Charles E. Hill
Charles E. Hill, 85, of South Hempstead, NY, passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Chippy, as he was lovingly referred to by family and friends, was known for his honesty and strong character, which he practiced in every aspect of his life. He loved God, his family and his country beyond all measure. He was a good and loyal friend to many, and he never wavered in the commitment it took to be a real friend. Chippy was a nurturer and epitomized the verse, “Love all creatures both great and small…” he was kind, gentle, and always an advocate for the innocent, especially little children and animals. Whether going by the title of Dad, Uncle Chippy, Charlie, or Mr. Hill, he was a man so many looked up to. He always spoke the truth and was never concerned with winning a popularity contest; he was a purely good person and always had a penchant for a good joke or funny story. While it is difficult to say goodbye to such a great man, all who knew him and loved him were blessed by his presence and wonderful influence in their lives.
Charles is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia (nee Brogan). He was the loving father of Michael(Krissy), the late Mary, Billy(Donna), John, Maryellen (Matthew), Chris(Linda), Jennifer(Kevin), Patrick(Emily) and his daughter-in-law Amy Hill.
He was the cherished grandpa of Christina, Nancy, Christopher, Kathleen, Madeline, Joseph, Leigha, Kevin, Christian, Grace, Lauren, Danny, Patrick, Annie, Julia, Sophia, Mackenzie, Matthew, Michael and Kira; and proud great-grandfather of Ava, Natalia and Olivia; loving son of the late Patrick Joseph and Monica Grace Hill; devoted brother of Lorraine, Monica and the late, John, Patricia, William, Annemarie and Edwin.
Reposing at Thomas A Glynn & Son Funeral Home 20 Lincoln Avenue Rockville Centre, NY, Friday, 1/26/24 from 2-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Agnes Cathedral, Rockville Centre, NY, 1/27/24 at 9:00am. Interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Old Westbury, NY.
