Marie, Betty, Brianna ,Family and Friends of Rena S. Walker, let me share a few thoughts about our Precious loved one. Rena and
I met in 1961 when we began our Social Work Careers@ Nassau County Department of Social Services. Having met her parents
Sgt. and Mrs. Jones who occasionally visited my father-in-laws church, Rena and I instantly bonded becoming friends, confidants,
and occasional fishing but never bowling buddies. Her and Charlie were die hard bowlers. Several times Rena invited me to go bowling with them-that never happened. Her and Charlie went as far as Las Vegas, NV. to compete in Bowling Tournaments.
In 1964, Rena and I along with 10-12 other employees were selected to attend Graduate Social Work School @ the
Agency's expense( She @Adelphi Univ. and me @ N.Y.U.). Following graduate school, we returned to the Agency and became
Supervisors in Family Services in 1966.I went to Nassau County Youth Board in 1969.
Some years later, Rena came to work for me @ the Youth Board. Years later, Rena proved her friendship by allowing me to keep my job by refusing to accept my position even though she had scored higher than me on the Civil Service Test. I owe her a debt of gratitude. She and I kept in contact after retirement until 01/2022. Gloria and I stopped by their home in Goldsboro, N.C
We extend our heartfelt sympathy. May God's Peace bring you comfort in the days ahead. Raymond/Gloria Menchan
