It wasnt very long ago that I learned of Artie’s passing. I was so sad to hear it. As a young girl, I adored this man… his warm smile and georgeous blue eyes. He was a good friend of my father from the Korean war, and was the godfather to my brother Vincent. If I had to sum him up in a word, it would be… kind. He was so gentle and kind. The very opposite of my father which is why he was so striking to me, I suppose.
I am sure he is resting in peace, with the angels in heaven.

Dear Artie, our Dad and Grandpa.... I want to thank you for being a great father in law. From the day I met you 28 years ago, you have always made me feel loved and a part of your family ... with your constant jokes and your sweet nickname "Angelina" which I loved! You have given our family so many gifts over the years, the greatest gift of all was that of being a wonderful, loving Grandfather. I will never forget how honored you were to be Alessia's guest at her "Buddy & Me" breakfast each year in preschool. You have spent countless, memorable times with each of your grandchildren .... Easter egg hunts, band concerts, dance recitals, sleepovers ... You were there with a big, proud smile on your face. I feel blessed that Jessica and Alessia grew up with you there for each of these life moments. You will be in our hearts for always. These memories and your love will never leave us. Artie, I cannot underestimate the wonderful influence you had on myself and my children. You were the kind of grandfather that every kid deserves; always involved and constantly offering them words of encouragement. Day in and day out, rain, sleet or snow, you were there for Justin and Alexandra to help them on and off the school bus. You were more dependable than the postman. My childrens love for reading and gardening began with you and I will make sure that their love for both continues on. I'd also like to thank you for the influence that you had on me as a father, griller and DIY'er. Every so often you would call me son and although I never acknowledged it, it meant a lot to me. I hope you're at peace now, playing with Max, Bridget, Tallie and any other animals that are in need of some love and attention.

I will remember you as the person who was always a helping and loving hand for me. I remeber all the times when we used to play soccer in the hallway and when i used to kick the ball really high and always be close to breaking something but never did to this day, lo.l I also remember when me and Alexandra used to draw with chalk in the backyard and in the driveway. Melissa and family….I am very sorry for your loss. Even though I didn’t get to meet Mr. Russo, he became family just from listening to stories of how he was a great husband, father, grandfather and just an all around great guy who loved life and family. Even though he has been called home to be with our Heavenly Father, you will always have the fond memories of how wonderful he was. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel but until you meet again, know that he will always be there looking down upon you with a great big smile.
