To Julia and Brendan,
What a kick in the gut to walk into baby Fiona's wake. RIP. The shock and sadness to see your pain and that of her grandparents and great grandmother...
But then I knelt before her shine, binky included and began to feel the love... and her smile... the love that can only come from an innocent soul who passed through the earth journey so swiftly and briefly but what an indelible impression she left. Rest now in Fiona's memory and with time her love will give you the strength to continue as her family.
Your sad cousin,
Geoffrey Collins, New York

Dear Julia and Brendan, There are people we come across in this life that will remain in our hearts forever. For me, one of those people is our dear Fiona. It was such a privilege to be able to take care of her. I'm sure I can speak for most of us on 11C - Fiona made us all better and more thoughtful about how we bond with families going through a difficult time. Watching both of you love on her and each other was so palpable and truly quite humbling to watch. There is absolutely nothing I can say to take away the pain that you are both going through but please know that you are NOT alone. Fiona will forever be remembered, and that is a promise. Sending you so much love. Big hugs.

Sending lots of love and prayers to the family of sweet Fiona. I have been praying for Fiona, her grandmother Nora and all the family since she was 2-1/2 months old and I learned of her health issues. I am a friend of a friend of the family but have been a mighty prayer warrior because her smile and story touched my heart. God bless you all from a praying grandmother you never knew was praying.

Julia & Brendan,
I will never forget the adorable, smiley, STRONG girl that Fiona was. You two are such incredible parents and she was so lucky to have you, both to advocate for her and fill her life with love. Her life was too short but it was filled with so much tangible love and joy. I cared for Fiona when she was sick but I will remember her as the beautiful, giggly, curious, sweet girl that she was at her core. I know for certain you will be reunited one day, and until then that you will continue to spread the joy that she brought into the world just by existing.
Love,
Miller Kress

Caring for Fiona and your family throughout her stay at CHONY was such an honor and a privilege. Getting to watch how brave, level headed, and strong you all were in the face of tremendous challenges yet still being able to advocate for her as strongly and surely as you did was nothing short of inspiring and an example of unconditional and true love. Fiona was a light in the world who will be missed so dearly. But I know that every rainbow or spectacular sunrise/sunset seen over Peconic Bay is her saying Hi and sending love to her parents and family. I am continuing to send prayers and love, and will carry a piece of you all through the rest of my nursing career

Julia and Brendan, you have been the strongest parents and the most amazing advocates for Fiona since day 1. I will never forget the day she was admitted to 11C for the first time and even on the scariest of days, you two remained calm, composed and such rocks for one another. The love that you had for Fiona was so apparent and it was always such a privilege to take care of your family. Fiona was just the sweetest of babies and brought so much happiness to our unit. This is something no parent should ever have to experience and my heart goes out to you guys during this time. Fiona will forever stay in my heart and memory and I know that she is shining down on us forever. So much love for you guys and your angel above.

Fiona was full of DELIGHT at the world, at her parents' faces, and at the sweet sounds of birds chirping through her sound machine. I will never forget her scrumptious cheeks, her warm smile, her sweet hands around her pacifier, and her strong, loving spirit. It was an honor to care for her. I will always be thankful that her parents allowed me to get to know them and Fiona and to walk alongside them during their hospital journey.
