Obituary of Claudia Brugge

Claudia S. Brugge passed away peacefully on August 11, 2013 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on December 30, 1952 in Lakewood Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Jean Somogy, who both preceded her in death. Claudia lived with her family in Rockville Centre since 1986. Claudia is survived by her husband of 38 years, Frank, son Frank Jr. Cpl. U.S.M.C. and daughter Kristine. Also surviving are her sisters, Pam Winston (Lew) of Denver, Colorado and Jill Oatey (William) of Bay Village Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Claudia was employed by the Rockville Centre UFSD as Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent. Claudia was a 1971 Graduate of Rocky River High School in Ohio and a 1973 Graduate of Ashland College in Ashland Ohio where she received an Associate Arts Degree. She was a member of P.E.O. a Philanthropic Women's group, St. Marks United Methodist Church and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Claudia was devoted in life to her family and numerous friends. Two of Claudia's passions were cooking and preparing food which bordered on professional. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her guests smile when dining on her; rice pudding, soups and bisques of all kinds, pastry, applesauce, oatmeal coconut cake, roasts, fish, holiday brunches to name a few favorites. Claudia was passionate about music, gifted on the piano and decided at age 55 to take violin lessons. Her range of music spanned widely: Classical, Opera, Instrumental Jazz, Motown, 50's, 60's, Blues and Country. She never cared for the Beatles but was a "rabid" Lou Christie and Tina Turner fan not to mention violinist Sarah Chang. A memorial service was held at St. Marks United Methodist Church and she will be interred at a family plot in Lake Cossayuna, NY alongside the family's upstate home.
