Thomas Paul Guinan, 84, of Rockville Centre, New York and Stuart, Florida passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Martin Memorial Hospital North in Stuart. He and his wife, Margaret, have been “snowbirds” for the last thirteen years, spending their winters in Stuart.
Thomas was born on July 25, 1931 in Bayside, New York to Thomas and Margaret (Weir) Guinan. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin High School in Brooklyn, New York. He was a Veteran proudly serving his country as a United States Marine. He graduated from Hofstra University in 1960 with a degree in Applied Physics.
Prior to his retirement, Tom was an Electronics Engineer working for Unisys Corporation at their Lake Success, New York location.
He was a parishioner at Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Rockville Centre, where he taught Religious Instruction and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council of the Church.
A husband and father, he is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Margaret Guinan of Rockville Center and Stuart; five sons, Thomas Guinan and his wife, Eileen of Albany, New York, Kevin Guinan and his wife, Laura of Rockville Center, New York, Timothy Guinan and his wife, Judy of New Paltz, New York, Patrick Guinan and his wife, Nancy of South Hempstead, New York, and Michael Guinan and his wife, Beth of East Hampton, New York; five daughters, Margaret Guinan Aiello and her husband, Al Tacornal of Miami, Florida, Noreen Dellay and her husband, Bobby of New Paltz, New York, Deirdre Rinn and her husband, Andrew of Oceanside, New York, Maura DeMilt and her husband, John of Ottawa Hills, Ohio, and Shavaun Guinan of Carle Place, New York; and eighteen grandchildren, Hunter, Katelyn, Michael, Brenna, Patrick, Donovan, Dylan, Griffin, Morgan, Matthew, Rhiannon, Trevor, Marley, Emerson, Cole, Deirdre, Ty, and Olive.
Visitation will be at Thomas Glynn Funeral Home on Lincoln Avenue in Rockville Centre, NY. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at St. Agnes Cathedral on Quealy Place in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Interment will be at Holly Rood Cemetery in Westbury, N.Y.
