Obituary of Charles G. Slepian
Charles “Chic” Gilbert Slepian, 79, passed away peacefully in New York on Saturday, December 9, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends. Born and raised in the South Bronx, he later graduated from the City College of New York and Fordham Law School. He had a rich and diverse career as an educator and an attorney, and served as a Deputy Commissioner to New York City Mayor John Lindsay. Chic also ran the Foreseeable Risk Analysis Center, where he wrote about and consulted on hotel and airport security. He was a frequent expert guest on national media outlets where he discussed improving security practices. In his free time, he was an avid athlete who boxed, swam, and ran until his final days. A US Army veteran, he loved World War II books and movies, and was a frequent visitor to his local cinema. Chic was a dedicated cat dad to Jasper and Melvin.
Chic lived a remarkable life and was a loving husband to his wife Patricia Murray, dedicated father to his children Jon and Keri from his marriage with Nita Koval, and to Jenny and James from his marriage with Jeanette Slepian. He was a caring grandfather to his many grandchildren, and proud uncle to Michael and Mark Slepian, and Lori Mulick.
