Have been researching old yearbooks and came across Janet's pic and name. We attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Ozone Park and then both attended Bishop McDonnell High School. Janet was a lovely girl, very intelligent, a member of the Leo Honor Society and achieved fame for always knitting socks. She was a wonderful classmate. Of course we lost track of each other after graduation--- I went into Nursing and she was interested in teaching. I am now delighted to learn that she married and had several children. They should all be proud that they had such a loving mother.
I am now 87 +1/2 and living in West Bay Cape Breton. To this day i wonder whose feet all those socks were made for. and if they still endure. Doris La Noce and Anna Gardella were the two others that were chosen from OLPH to attend Bishop's. I do not know how they fared after graduation or where they now may be.
I married a Merchant Mariner, had four children, three of whom are living. One son passed this year. He was the Exec. V Pres. of the Maritime Officers Union in the U.S. The other son became a Nuclear engineer, one daughter a nurse, and the other daughter a legal assistant. Hopefully Janet and our other classmates will enjoy a reunion in Heaven.
