Obituary of Bruce Ball

Please share a memory of Bruce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bruce Maguire Ball was born in Camden, NJ on November 19, 1928, to Dorothy G. Peacock Ball and Maguire Ball.  After his mother’s passing in 1931, he and his younger brother, Robert, were raised by their father, a school teacher, in Haddon Heights NJ.  At the age of 17 Bruce heeded the call to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from September 1946 to June 1949 as a Private First Class.

Upon honorable discharge, Bruce attended University of Maryland where he studied Engineering and played sousaphone in the marching band.  He was married to Katherine Smith from 1953 - 1978, and they had two sons.   Bruce was a computer programmer working for IBM, Univac and RCA.

In 1982, Bruce married Audrey Posner in New York where he worked for Northrop Grumman until retirement.

Bruce had a story for every situation and was always ready with dry humor even keeping his nurses amused in his last days.  He was an old school gentleman and practiced the virtues of kindness and generosity in very practical ways throughout his life.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Audrey of Port Washington, NY, a brother, Gerald (Lisa) Ball of Santa Ana, CA, sister in law Dorie Ball of Wilmington NC, his sons, Carl J. Ball (Cindy) of Cedarburg, WI, and Donald B. Ball of Hockessin, DE, step-children, Alan Posner of Parkland, FL, Brian (Tracey) Posner of Savannah, GA, and Janice (Brad) Jacobs of Bellmore, NY, grandchildren, Nina Granados, Bonnie (Anthony) Garrity, Christopher Ball, Caroline Ball, Noah Posner, Catherine Ball, Amanda Jacobs, Matthew Jacobs, (10) great grandchildren, and other cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Ball, and granddaughter, Rachel Ball.
