Janean  Klaess Hogmire, age 88, a resident of Ft. Myers, Florida passed away in the early morning hours of June 15, 2019. She peacefully passed away from complications from chronic medical conditions at HealthPark Care and Rehabilitation Center.   She was born November 2, 1930  to the  late John J Klaess and Dorothy Wilke. She attended Oceanside High School and Graduated from Harcum College with a degree in Business. She went on to run Homer’s Wine and Liquors with her late Husband Homer J. Hogmire in Rockville Centre. She enjoyed going to the beach with her family on the weekends after church and deep sea fishing. She was very involved with her children’s upbringing, becoming a girl scout leader for her daughters and volunteering for her children’s sports teams. She resided in Rockville Centre, NY before moving to Ft. Myers, Florida where she volunteered for the hospital, giving flu shots and infant vaccinations. Her husband, Homer J. Hogmire, preceded her in death in 1978. Janean kept herself busy with arts and crafts and eventually met Petro Kurkimilis who she remained a companion with until her death. Together, they traveled the world and cruised the oceans, satisfying her taste for travel and adventure. She loved to travel with her family and playing cards with her friends. If you couldn’t find her at a card night, you would find her at the pool, thoroughly enjoying her days.  She is survived by her companion, Petro Kurkimilis (Ft. Myers, FL),  her son, John Michael Hogmire (Burwell, NE) married to Kathy and their 5 children- Megan, Kelci, Michela, Cody and Joel, Karen Mirando (Oceanside, NY),  married to John and their 3 children – Vincent, Stephanie and Nicholas and Elisabeth Kurkimilis (Eagleville, PA) married to James and 1 daughter- Kristina. In addition there are 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her eighteen year old tabby cat, Mush. Janean is predeceased by parents and Husband, Homer, as well as her great grandson, Alex.

While she was full of life and love in the physical world, her legacy will continue on in the hearts of those who loved her.
