Dear Friends,
I just heard of Margaret's death and I want to send my sincerest condolences not only as a former pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer from 1995 to 2002 but also as a very young customer at Stadler's Shoe Store in the 1940s and '50s (Buster Brown shoes!). Because of the association that I had with Stadler's, which was already more than four decades old when I became pastor, I felt that I had a special relationship to Margaret. But I think it would have been special anyway because of her outgoing and warm personality. She was just a lovely person, and I know that she was greatly appreciated in the choir. I wish that I could be at Margaret's wake and funeral, but I am in Ohio at the moment, helping out in a little parish, and that would be impossible. But I will be praying for Margaret and her family. May she rest in peace, and may her memory endure with all the warmth that characterized Margaret herself.
