Mary B. Van Wart, 82 years of age, of East Meadow, Rockville Centre, Baldwin and Brooklyn, NY.

 

Mary was born to the late Daniel and Evelyn Peters, in Brooklyn on October 23, 1937 and grew up in the Marine Park neighborhood. She married the boy next door (William F. Van Wart, Jr.) in September, 1958. They bought their first house in Baldwin NY and were blessed with over 50 years of marriage. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mary had a dynamic career with highlights including secretary at the FBI, an educator at a small Long Island private school, a bookkeeper at several Long Island businesses but above all her favorite job was being a mom and a Mimi. She will be remembered for being a great friend, for her boisterous laugh, her epic “Cookie Bakes” and her love of the beach.

 

She is survived by her children Marybeth (James), William (Buff), Karen (David) and Lynda. Her Sister Evelyn, as well as her 5 grandchildren: Kayla, Shane, Alyssa, George and Josephine.

 

Friends may call Monday March 2, 2020 5-9 PM at the Thomas A. Glynn & Son Funeral Home. Interment on Tuesday March 3, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Charles Cemetery.
